Flight lesson – Slow flight and stalls

I haven’t flown in a while so here’s another video from my “Learning to Fly” journey. I finally managed to successfully record output from the COMM radio, so you can hear exactly what is going on. I didn’t include a Pre-flight/Take off and steep turns practise, since that was covered in my previous series. In this video I’m performing 3 manoeuvres: Slow flight, Power-On Stall and Power-Off Stall.…

Flight Lesson – Steep turns

This video shows me taxiing and practicing steep turns maneuvre on Cessna 172R at my favorite place to fly – CNU8. There was a 9kt crosswind and instructor let me perform a circuit with a cross-wind approach up until 200 feet before touchdown. Next time I will try to record intercom and sync it to video (Failed to do so this time).…

Cessna 172M Preflight procedures

Here’s a video from one of my flight lessons. This is a Preflight procedure in Cessna 172M. It’s the only good footage I got from that lesson, because this particular plane did not start (dead battery couldn’t get enough current to get enough revolutions for engine to start) and luckily we switched to 172R (Much better plane). Unfortunately, I couldn’t get a good angle on it due to different field of view from the back, so this made me modify…

Skydiving in Varadero, Cuba v2.0

Once wasn’t enough – so I did it again.. at the same place .. in Cuba: a tandem skydive out of Soviet Union era Mi-8 helicopter (Previously did it out of 1950’s An-2 biplane, where we got lost in cloud coverage and landed 30km away from the resort). However, this time I was truly enjoying it, since we had no cloud coverage and weather was amazing. Next time I’m in Cuba – I will be tempted to do it again……

The place is a true geek paradise and it was definitely the most memorable trip of the year. I’ve attended a Google All-Star Summit 2012 with my friend (who is also my co-worker) – Vadim Leontyev. Here are some of the interesting facts about the campus:…

My first Sky Diving experience @ Varadero, Cuba

Tandem jump in Varadero, Cuba. We jumped out of a 60 year old An-2 (Kukuruznik) from 8,300 feet with a 45 second free fall. With a 5 minute safety briefing with instructors that barely spoke english, it was truly an epic experience 🙂 Due to unexpected cloud coverage, we actually got lost (Pilots had no GPS, just paper map) and ended up landing 30 kilometers away from our resort.…
